MAITS is developing a pool of experienced special educators and healthcare professionals working with children with developmental disabilities or within the mental health sector who are willing to volunteer their time and expertise to contribute to the development and delivery of multidisciplinary training packages to staff working in the disability sector in resource poor countries. Some of this work will therefore take place in the UK and some of it will involve short trips to deliver and evaluate the training packages.

If you are interested in participating in this programme and have the following experience, we would be very interested in hearing from you. We are looking for practitioners who have a minimum of 4 years work experience in their field as well as experience of the following:

- conducting formal training programmes for students or professional groups

- multidisciplinary working

- working with culturally diverse populations and/or travel/work in the developing world

MAITS provides funding towards flights, visas, insurance, overseas accommodation, and overseas transport costs.  Costs of a personal nature such as meals overseas are paid for by the volunteer.

If you are interested in volunteering with us and would like more information, please complete an online application form (see links below) and you will be invited to an information and recruitment day.  These are held once a month on a Saturday.

Quote from previous volunteers:

"....Both of us would agree whole-heartedly that although we gave up our precious summer holiday to hard work and many demands on our health, time sand emotions we would do it all again...given the chance!”
