We are currently establishing a database of prospective volunteers with a background and expertise in special educational needs and disabilities who would be willing and able to train other professionals. Our portfolio of professionals already includes Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Music Therapists and Art Therapists. We would also like to include Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Health Visitors, Portage Workers, Behavioural Support Personnel, Nurses and Doctors/Paediatricians and others involved in the delivery of special education and care.

The MAITS programme will provide funding for flights, visa, medical and insurance needs as well as arranging your board and lodging with the local institution. We will work with you to arrange a suitable programme and working schedule that fits best around your expertise and needs and those of the local institutions.

You will need to:

Be able to take a short break from your present job or give up holiday time, take responsibility to visit your GP or a Travel Clinic to get the most up to date information on inoculations and vaccinations and organise any relevant visa applications.

UK based Organisations

We are currently also establishing a database of organisations based in the UK which are directly connected to any aspect of special educational needs or disabilities. This could include organisations such as schools, associations, other SEN charities, societies and so on. Not only would you be able to get direct access to a database and knowledge pool of others in the same field but MAITS could also work with your organisation to promote our volunteer programme and if needed, create a bespoke programme that fits you and your organisation.

Quote from volunteer teachers:

"....Both of us would agree whole-heartedly that although we gave up our precious summer holiday to hard work and many demands on our health, time sand emotions we would do it all again...given the chance!”
